Vendor Highlight: Taste Of Palisade
Our friends over at Wed West Slope asked us for a quick breakdown of our creations and what makes them stand out so here you go…. a little inside scoop about Taste of Palisade!
For me, it’s ALL about the products. Yes, they are super fun to create and I love using food as an artform but honestly, the only reason Taste of Palisade is a success is because of all of the local products on the board. I love to explore flavor profiles and combine local products, to see how they interact together. One of my favorite combinations is Nana’s Peach Jalapeno Jam (from their downtown Palisade shop) with Ghost Rocks Farms cow’s milk cheese (which you can find at the farmers’ market). It has a velvety texture, thanks to the “melt in your mouth” Ghost Rock Farms cheese and the spicy kick that comes from the Jalapeno Jam makes for a perfect bite! I also love mixing items like Decadence Gourmet’s Chow Chow and Anita’s Pantry Black-Eyed Pea Dip. These flavors take me back to my days of growing up in the south and utilizing everything from my grandmother’s garden, as much as possible. I love working with local farms like Blaine’s and Clark Orchards. They always have the freshest products so I would be remiss not to show off Palisade’s BEST!
As for the creations themselves, I absolutely LOVE doing product research and finding inspiration from my fellow Charcuterie Queens out there. Pinterest, Instagram, and TikTok keep me updated on trends and new ideas! Sometimes I can make them work and sometimes I can’t, but it’s always fun coming up with my own interpretation of a trend. Except for during Halloween. If I have to see one more skeleton covered in Prosciutto, I might throw in my proverbial “charcuterie” towel! I think my educational background in design also helps me with having a design aesthetic for how items should be placed and showcased. Cheese is such an easy item to design with and oddly enough, sliced meat has its own design chops. Honestly, would I even have a business if it wasn’t for the meat rose??
Our boards are perfect for any bridal celebration or small group event. Use it as a snack in the bridal suite for your big day, or maybe as a snack for the newlyweds in the get-away car? Even better, maybe you need one for your bachelorette party, where you are visiting local wineries. Whatever you need, we have your special occasion covered! Keep us in mind for Charcuterie Classes too… a unique way to enjoy a group activity, with your closest friends.
