Five Things Your Wedding Planner Will Do That You Would Never Think About
Your wedding day is finally here and there probably a million things running through your head. When does the cake arrive? Have the groomsmen showered? Who is showing the bartender where to set up? If you have a wedding planner or coordinator, you probably don’t have to worry about a single one of those problems because they’ve got you covered. And, even better, they take care of a multitude of other tasks that you might never even consider. Here are five things your wedding planner will do that you would never think about:
Happy Vendors. You might not realize, but every wedding planner knows that the key to success on your wedding day is a team of happy wedding vendors. Creating a happy team starts with organization and a well constructed timeline, which your planner should create and distribute for you. Everyone is always happier when they know where they are supposed to be, and when. Another part of keeping the vendor team happy is FOOD. No one wants a hangry photographer or DJ! Your wedding planner will help to make sure everyone gets to slow down for a minute at dinner and refuel so they can give you their best work the rest of the evening.
Bad Weather Plans. While your wedding planner probably isn’t a meteorologist, they do have their eye on the weather in the few weeks and days leading up to your wedding. They probably have your ceremony location pinpointed on their weather app and are watching weather patterns and predictions religiously. When they sense that there could be some unpredictable weather headed your way, they create a back-up plan, and maybe even a back-up-back-up plan. If showers (or something worse) threatens on your big day, they are ready to roll out plans B & C to make sure you still get the most amazing wedding day imaginable.
Timing. If you ask most wedding planners, I bet they can tell you the exact time the sunset is on the day of your wedding. It’s these key timing details that help your planner make an excellent timeline for your wedding day that will both keep everyone on track, as well as make sure you don’t miss key moments- like sunset pictures with your photographer and videographer during beautiful golden hour.
Expecting the Unexpected. It happens at almost all weddings… people just don’t sit next to someone they don’t know! The next thing you know, guests are complaining that there aren’t enough seats at the ceremony, even though you KNOW there are 100 seats for your 100 guests. Your wedding planner knows this reality, and will have at least 10-15 extra chairs over your guest count set out to accommodate those empty spaces. And this is just one small example of where your planner will be one step ahead of an unexpected situation. The bonus of having a planner is that they’ve seen many, many weddings and know the patterns. They can see what will happen before it does, and fix it before anyone is the wiser.
Odds & Ends. Chapstick is your friend on your wedding day. Your wedding planner probably has an endless supply of fresh never been used chapstick! And that’s not it, if you are in need of an odd little piece (like maybe an extra straight pin to keep on a boutonniere, maybe some static guard, maybe extra deodorant) your planner probably has it. They keep emergency kits filled with all kinds of completely random items that they know from experience will come in handy.
Having a wedding planner on your wedding day has all kinds of benefits, some that you may never have even realized. While these are five things your wedding planner will do that you would never think about, there are so many other places your planner will pop in with seemingly magical solutions! They are there for you, doing everything in their power to make sure you have the incredible wedding day you’ve been dreaming about.
